You’d think once you tipped the scale at 428,000 pounds, you might look to lose some weight.
Not so with Vancouver’s local bank, Riverview Community Bank.
As part of their recent Annual Food Drive, Riverview has already generated the equivalent of 428,000 pounds of food in donations and cash from their employees, clients, friends and media partners. The effort supports local food banks, and it just one way that Riverview gives back in our community.
But they’re not done yet. Riverview is taking food … [Continue reading this Article]

School Supply Drive Going On Now.
Ahh, the first day of school; fresh faces, new pencils and erasers, crisp, clean notebooks and a nice backpack to carry all those supplies in. Unfortunately, that is not the situation for many kids returning to school this year. Budgets have been cut in both homes and schools and many children will lack the basic tools necessary for successful learning without our help.
Smokey’s Hot Oven Pizza has a long history of supporting local kids and they are having … [Continue reading this Article]

Making Memories at Clark County Fair.
One of the displays I enjoyed at this year’s Clark County Fair was “The Old Firehouse”. It’s a display of over 40 Fire Engines and fire fighting equipment, dating from the 1800′s to current day. Many of the old engines have been beautifully restored, and just walking through the building tells a great visual story of how tied to the community firefighters were, and still are.
In fact, if you are going to the Clark County Fair on Monday … [Continue reading this Article]

Some Photos and Video from Sip and Stroll 2011.
The 2011 version of Sip and Stroll took place Saturday July 23 and encompassed 38 venues , hundreds of participants and an immeasurable amount of good times. This year the Sip and Stroll had participating venues in both the Downtown Vancouver, home of the Vancouver’s Downtown Association area and the Uptown Village area. Fortunately, for those less inclined to traverse the distance in between, shuttles ran throughout the event.
We thoroughly enjoyed the event. We had … [Continue reading this Article]

No Lifeguards or Spray Feature Summer 2011.
Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Park has long been a popular destination for summertime fun. With the addition of the play structure, spray feature and lifeguards, the popularity only increased.
The good news is that Klineline will be open for the summer. The bad news is that the spray feature will be off, and the lifeguards absent.
Here is an excerpt from a recent Clark County press release:
“For a second year, the county will not provide lifeguards … [Continue reading this Article]

Going to Market in Battle Ground
It finally seemed like the first few days of summer, so we decided to take in the sights and sounds of the Battle Ground Village Outdoor Market. While not as big as some of the other local markets such as the Vancouver Farmers Market – and while not a true ’Farmers’ Market like the Salmon Creek Farmers Market – the Battle Ground Village Outdoor Market had a seemingly perfect combination of quantity and quality of vendors, and with great proximity to the … [Continue reading this Article]
