And it’s Official.

Vancouver set a new record for July 27 yesterday when we hit 103 degrees.  We might even hit a new record for today, with a high temperature forecast of 105 degrees.

We are not the only area to be hit with the heat wave.  Our friends at the B-Town Blog up in Burien, WA have appropriately named it “Hotpocalypse ’09“.  Love the image, thanks guys!

A Hot Weather Advisory has been issued by Clark County Public Health with hot weather tips and symptoms of heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and heat cramps. While I won’t recite the whole report here (we’ve heard it a lot lately), I do feel we should be reminded of the following:

“• Although anyone may suffer from heat-related illness, some people are at greater risk than others. Check regularly on:
o Infants and young children
o People 65 or older
o Those who are physically ill, especially with heart disease or high blood pressure
• Visit at-risk adults at least twice a day and closely watch them for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Infants and young children need much more frequent watching.
•NEVER leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, especially young children. This applies to pets as well.”

Stay Cool, Clark County!
