Humane Society Hosts Red Cross Bloodmobile.
The American Red Cross has issued an appeal for blood donors of all types due to a critical blood shortage across our nation. The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is proud to host the American Red Cross Bloodmobile on Tuesday, August 30th from 1pm – 6pm in the front parking lot
Did you know that one pint of blood can save up to three lives? Or that every two seconds someone needs a blood transfusion, and every year about five million patients in the US need blood? In May and June of this year, blood donations were six percent lower than what the Red Cross typically sees during this timeframe. The Red Cross has responded to more than 40 major disasters in over 30 states during the past three months – delivering help and hope to people affected by floods, tornadoes and wildfires.
In addition, Edible Arrangements has partnered with the American Red Cross Blood Services to provide a coupon for a free box of 6 pieces of chocolate dipped fruit…all donors who come in to donate blood on August 30th will receive a coupon. To schedule an appointment or for more information, contact Amy Tanska at 360.213.2624 or atanska@southwesthumane.org
I’ve done the math…if you participated in the Clark County Firefighters Blood Drive on July 1, 2011, you will be eligible to donate again (you can donate every 56 days!)
So start hydrating, and roll up your sleeves! I’ll be there, will you?
