Vancouver Walk at Esther Short Park.
The ALS Society will be having its Walk to Defeat ALS on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Esther Short Park. Walker registration begins at 11 am and the three mile walk starts and ends at Esther Short Park.
Just what is ALS? Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a progressive nuerodegenerative disease, referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”, and “most commonly, the disease strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70, and as many as 30,000 Americans have the disease at any given time. Familial ALS represents between five to 10 percent of all cases. The rest arise spontaneously and mysteriously, making seemingly random attacks on previously healthy adults. ALS can strike anyone, anytime.”
