While we may, or may not, have six more weeks of winter (Groundhog Day isn’t until Wednesday, February 2); it’s a sure sign of coming Spring when Little Leagues across  Clark County are holding their registrations for the beginning of Little League Baseball, and Softball, Season!

Clark County is home to many different Leagues in either Washington State District 6, or Washington State District 4. Most leagues have their open sign ups in January and early February, but will accept late registrations (please check with your local Clark County Baseball Little league).

District 6 is comprised of  Battle Ground Little League, Glenwood Little League, Hazel Dell Little League, Highlands Little League, Kalama Little League, La Center Little League, Lewis River Little League, North Clark Little League, Ridgefield Little League, and Salmon Creek Little League.

District 4 includes Bridge of the Gods Little League, Cascade Little League, Central Vancouver Little League, Columbia Little League, East County Little League, Evergreen Little League, Fort Vancouver Little League, and LaCamas Little League.

The Evergreen Public Schools Classified Employees (Secretaries, Clerks, Bus Drivers, Staff Assistants, etc.) have felt the pain of lost jobs and reduced hours due to budget cuts and are doing something about it: Helping others.

That’s right, they are sponsoring their first ever “Stuff the Bus” event on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Fred Meyer on 117th Avenue and Wal-Mart on 192nd Avenue (both in Vancouver, WA).  They will be accepting non-perishable food-items, toiletries, and cleaning supplies to donate to Share.

Items needed for the Children’s Backpack Program: Tuna, Dry Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Canned Chili and Soup, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Boxed Meals (Mac-n-Cheese, Hamburger Helper, etc.), Canned Fruits and Vegetables, Cereal, Instant Oatmeal, Crackers, and Granola/Snack Bars. As these bags are being distributed to small children, no glass containers and smaller size items are appreciated.

Personal Items Needed for Shelter and Outreach: Deodorant, Disposable Razors, Shaving Cream, Soap, Shampoo, Hand Sanitizer, Hairbrushes and Combs, Individual Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels and Bath Towels.
