No More Lifeguards on Duty.
The good news is that Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Park will remain open for swimming this summer. The bad news is that due to budget cuts, there will no longer be lifeguards on duty. And, since one of the duties of the lifeguards was to also maintain the spray feature at the park, that will also be turned off this summer.

Vancouver Lake and Klineline Pond Welcome Swimmers Back.
Both Vancouver Lake and Klineline Pond have been reopened for swimming today, just in time for the weekend!
Vancouver Lake has been closed since July 22; Salmon Creek Klineline Pond was only closed for a couple of days, since August 18. While the weather forecast for Vancouver/Clark county does not show we are headed for another Hotpocalypse, it does look like good swimming weather.

Okay to Spray, But Not Splash.
Update 8/21/09: Klineline Pond Reopened today!
Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Greenway has been closed to swimmers today, August 18, by the Health Department due to high levels E-coli. The spray park at Klineline Pond is still safe to use as its water does not come from the pond and is chlorinated to kill bacteria. So, while the picnic areas and spray park are open for use, the pond is off limits.
